Features

In order to be as realistic as possible, the firefighter mod introduce numerous features never before seen in GTA4, to enhance the gameplay and to help the player achieve his rescue/firefighting missions.
Here is a list, the description and how to use each features.
  •     Ladder Control;
  •     Stretcher;
  •     The Equipment Menu;
  •     Rope Rescue;
  •     Victim Treatment System;
  •     Patient processing at the hospital
  •     Jaws of Life;
  •     Securing the scene (road cone);
  •     The Box System.

Ladder Control

This feature works only with the official compatible ladder: 2013 Ferrara 100' Aerial Ladder – FDNY


When close to the rear of the ladder truck, press L. The camera will then automatically be positioned next to the ladder facing its direction, and will move accordingly to the ladder position.

To move the ladder: use the arrows of your keyboard: while the arrow is pressed, the ladder will keep moving. The ladder move counterclockwise.
Once the ladder is positioned: press ENTER to stop moving the ladder. Repeat the operation to reset the ladder position, when ready to leave the scene.

Stretcher

To get the stretcher: you must be close to an ambulance. When close enough: press O. Your in-game character will automatically go to the rear of the ambulance, open the door, and then get the stretcher.

Once the stretcher is out: use the arrows of your keyboard to control it (it will follow your character). You can leave the stretcher anywhere by pressing T (to take another equipment If needed, or to keep treating the victim). To attach it again: press T.

When close to a victim: ready to be evacuated (the stretcher must be attached to your in-game character): press your Middle mouse button: the victim will automatically be placed in the stretcher; you can then move the victim.

To remove the victim/the stretcher: you must be close to the rear of the ambulance, and press O. the victim will automatically be placed in the ambulance and the stretcher removed.

To get the victim out of the ambulance: when close to the rear doors of the ambulance, press O: the stretcher will be deployed, and the victim placed on it.

The Equipment Menu

The FireFighter mod add unique tools and equipment to help you deal with any situation you might encounter when responding to a callout. Each unit has its own equipment, but you only have a limited number of each equipment per vehicle: don’t forget to remove the equipment before leaving the scene, or you won’t be able to use it later. (If you lost a piece of equipment, press X to reset the available equipment.)

The current equipment selected is highlighted in blue and indicated in the lower part of the screen.

To select equipment: when close to an emergency vehicle: press T a menu will then appear on the screen: use the keyboard arrow to select the needed equipment, and then press ENTER to validate your choice.

To remove the equipment: when close to an emergency vehicle: press T the current equipment you have, will automatically be removed.

You can detach any equipment by pressing T. This will allow you to get another equipment or to get your hands free. To pick up the equipment left: press T  again when close to it.

Rope Rescue

When the stretcher nor the stairs can be used to evacuate a victim, because of the environment, you can evacuate the victim in the air (The victim must be on the stokes basket).

First, you have to place the victim on the stokes basket (press the middle mouse button and select the “evacuate on foot” option).

Then, you have to position, next to the wall: you must be parallel to the wall you are going to climb down: the street you will “land” must be on your right (watch the official video tutorial for an example). Once you’re parallel to it: press the middle mouse button to display the available options, and select “evacuate the victim from the air”.

To climb: press:

  •          The up / down arrows of your keyboard to: go up / down;

  •          The Left / Right arrows of your keyboard to: rotate ;

  •          ENTER: to stop climbing;

Once you’re close enough to the ground, press ENTER or press the middle mouse button again, and choose: “evacuate the victim on foot”, and take the victim to the ambulance.

Victim Treatment System

The FireFighter mod comes with a Victim Treatment System, to help you treat the victims: the Victim Treatment System contains all the information about the patient: such as his condition, heart rhythm.
You can treat the victim inside the ambulance if it’s not too serious, by pressing F4 when close to the ambulance (victim must already be inside the ambulance), then if you don’t think it’s necessary to take the victim to the hospital press F5 to release the patient (or CONTROL to take the victim to the hospital).



To start treating a victim: press E when close to the patient. A menu will then appear on the screen:

  •          Check for vitals: Choosing this action will not treat the victim, it will only provide information about the patient (you can press 4 (numpad) to start treating the victim when you’re checking the victim’s vitals).

  •          Treat the victim: choosing this action, will allow you to start treating the victim and will offer you multiple tools to do so;

  •          Cancel: to quit the menu.

When treating the victim, you have more options (not available when “checking for vitals”):

  •          Call EMS (when you’re not a paramedic): 1 (numpad)

  •          Transmit the patient status to the dispatch by pressing 0 (numpad);

  •          Start CPR with the help of an Automated External Defibrillators by pressing 2 (numpad);

  •          Stop treating the victim (and go get the stretcher) by pressing: 3 (numpad)

Patient processing at the hospital

If you play as a paramedic, you will have to take victims to the “westdukes hospital” or the “broker hospital”. Once you get near the checkpoint at the entrance of the hospital with your ambulance: exit the vehicle, go to the rear doors and press O to get the victim out of the ambulance (on a stretcher).Then go inside the hospital to the “ER reception” (on the right side).



Once you’ve walked into the marker, the nurse will give you instructions: you will have to take the victim to his room: the room is at the end of the corridor on the left: walk into the marker (if you need more information about where to go: watch the official video tutorial). Once you walk into the marker, doctors will arrive and take care of the patient.






Once you’ve given all the information to the doctor, the camera will be placed behind your character, you will have to go back to the hospital reception, to fill out paper work, and then: you can go back on duty. (Don’t forget to put the stretcher back to the ambulance or you won't be able to use it later).


Jaws of Life

When a victim is pinned inside a vehicle, you will have to use the Jaws of life. Jaws of life are only available for the Ladder and Rescue companies.

Once you have the Jaws of life (after getting them in the equipment menu), go next to the driver’s door (or the front passenger door), then press the middle mouse button.


  • Use the left arrow: key to open the driver’s door;
  • Use the right arrow: key to open the passenger’s door;
  • Press ENTER: to stop using the Jaws of life;

Once you’ve pressed ENTER the victim will be placed on the ground.

Securing the scene (road cone)

You can secure the scene by placing road cones, wherever (and as much as) you want. Road cones are available for each unit, and can be obtain through the equipment menu.

When road cones are placed, vehicles will not enter the scene, and you can work safely (especially when responding to M.V.A)

Once you selected the road cones in the equipment menu, press the middle mouse button to place a road cone (the cone will be place where your in-game character is), then to stop placing road cones, and put the road cone you’re carrying on the ground (so you can go and take another equipment or do something else), press T.

The Box System

Each district of the city has been assigned a box number, to help you identify the area where the call is. Each station is assigned to a box. To display the map containing the box number: press B, and then to hide the map press B again.
